Best Avocado Toast – Desi Twist

You know there was a time when everyone Instagram was filled with Avocado toast , benefits of avocado and what not and shortly avocado became the talk of the town and eventually found its way into my grocery cart.

Instagram made me try this amazing fruit and I kid you not the first time i prepared avocado toast by looking at Youtube , i was not satisfied , i found it to be bland and not that worth the hype , but a few months back i decided to give it one more try but with a desi twist.
Avocado fruits have no flavor of their own hence being an Indian i had to put my spices to work to make it flavourful and yummy.
I have kept this recipe simple so you can easily add avocado to your weekly breakfasts. Healthy eating can be both easy and delicious!

Tips for making the best Avocado Toast
- Use ripe and good quality Avocado : Make sure that you use properly ripe avocado and look for avocado that yields to gentle pressure and is not mushy , this is how you know if the avocado is ripe.
- Buy A good quality bread , prefer using a whole wheat sourdough bread.
- Toast the bread to golden brown to get the maximum taste and texture needed for avocado toast.

Some Bonus tips for Ultimate Desi twist :
- Add Garlic to the avocado toast to enhance the taste . I would reccomend you to add Garlic powder into the avocado mixture and not raw garlic.
- Add your leafy greens into the mix such as chopped cilantro or basil as they go great with Avocado.

Best Avocado Toast- Desi Twist
Ingredients
- 4 slices Of Bread (I like Sourdough and whole-grain bread the best)
- 1 ripe Avocado
- ½ tsp Salt
- ¼ tsp Black pepper Powder
- ¼ tsp Garlic Powder
- Splash of Lemon Juice
- 1 small Onion finely chopped
- 1 small Tomato finely chopped
- 1 nos Green Chilli finely chopped
- Coriander finely chopped (optional)
Instructions
Prepare the Spread
- Remove the pit from your avocado. Use a big spoon to scoop out the flesh. Put it in a bowl and mash it up with a fork or a potato masher until it’s as smooth as you like it. Mix in a pinch of salt (about ⅛ teaspoon) and add more to taste, if desired.

- Quickly add some Lemon juice, followed by some chopped veggies (onion, tomatoes, green chili and coriander)
- Add ¼ tsp of pepper and ¼ Garlic powder into the mixture.
- Combine everything until well incorporated.
Prepare the bread
- Spread butter on both sides of the bread slices and place them in a hot pan.
- Toast the bread slices evenly until they turn golden brown.
Spread and Enjoy
- Spread the prepared avocado mix evenly on top of your toast.
- Drizzle some seasoning or chili flakes to make it look appetizing.
- Serve Hot and Enjoy!
